When i try and run the FSHost server ity says:
ERROR creating FS2004 and FSX session. Is there another copy of FSHost running on this machine? If so, each copy must use a different port for hosting the 2004 session (23456, 23457, 23458, etc.). See Options / Session to change the 2004 host port. This error can also happen when there's a problem with DirectX on this machine. Please go to the Windows Start button, select Run, type "dxdiag" and click OK. Then change to the Network tab and check for errors in the Notes section at the bottom. If you find errors reported, they can usually be fixed by reinstalling DirectX, which can be downloaded for free from http://www.microsoft.com/directx/
I have looked and i am not running two servers and i am using the deafault port (23456)
It was ok until i got Zone Alarm
Please help

Seems that you've identified the source of the problem yourself ;)
Switch Zone Alarm off and see if that fixes the problem. If so, then you'll have to read the Zone Alarm manual to see how to teach it that FSHost is perfectly safe and should be allowed to have Internet access. I don't have Zone Alarm so I can't help you.
I have just tryed disabling Zone Alarm and it makes no differeance :'( :'( >:( :-[
Did you do a restart of your PC after disabling Zone Alarm? Sometimes things keep running until you do a restart. Suggest you uninstall Zone Alarm, restart your PC and then try running FSHost again. If it still won't work then try running FSPortTest to check that all your ports are open.
I just tryed restarting with Zone alarm disabled and still not working
:'(
In my router if i disable the port is lets me run the server but when the portis being forwarded it dosnt let me start the server ???
What could be the problem
Did you uninstall Zone Alarm and restart?
Did you run FSPortTest?
Yes i did uninstall Zone alarm and i ran the FSport thing
Then I don't understand the problem. If FSPortTest ran OK and didn't report any errors then there shouldn't be a problem running FSHost
I have two ports open when i look in the FSPortTest
23456 and 6073
When i look in my router i only have port 23456 open aswel as port 80 for remote
So what is port 6073 open for? Or is it not open ???
Hi all
I installed recently FSHost on a win2k03 server and have the same error.
First time was because DX was not installed and FSHost needs DX network.
After installation of DirectX FSHosts started with no problem but it often occurs that
after i stop it then i restart it i have the same error. Once i have this error i can't restart FShost
without retarting the OS.
From what i see in the list of processes the case where FSHost fails is when dpnsvr.exe is not running, which means
a DX network problem. And in this case i need a windows restart.
Any idea of the reason why it starts and runs fine after an OS restart and it fails to run if i stop then restart it.
Thx
Patrick

Hi Patrick,
This is definitely related to DirectX, as you said. Unfortunately DirectX is pretty difficult to debug. Sometimes it will let you reinstall it (download from Microsoft) but sometimes it won't. And when it won't let you reinstall it, I'm afraid I don't have any suggestions other than to try one of the DirectX uninstall programs on the net (be careful -- I've never used any of them) or reinstall the OS.
Sorry I don't have a better suggestion.
