Hi Graham,

Version 1.3 of FSHostClient requires two things:
  • SimConnect 10.0.60905.0 (you have 10.0.61259.0)
  • Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package 8.0.50608.0 or higher (you have 8.0.50727.*)
I think the problem is that although it's ok to have a higher version of the Visual C++ package, you have to have the exact version of Simconnect, and yours is higher (10.0.61259.0). I think the original version that came with FSX was 10.0.60905.0, and there were a couple after that for various service packs (10.0.61242.0 and 10.0.61259.0). But usually the original version is never removed unless you specifically uninstall it -- which I think would mean you would have to remove FSX. So I'm not sure why your system doesn't have it anymore, but it's easy enough to get it back. One option would probably be to just reinstall FSX, but I'm attaching it to this post as a zip file, which you should hopefully be able to reinstall on your own.

At the bottom of this post, you'll find a zip file. Download it, and extract it to "C:\Windows\winsxs". Be sure to turn on the "Use folder names" option, or something similar. The zip file contains one file but it's in a directory, and it's important that the directory be created as well. After you extract it, you should have the following directory:

C:\Windows\winsxs\x86_microsoft.flightsimulator.simconnect_67c7c14424d61b5b_10.0.60905.0_none_dd92b94d8a196297

And in that directory should be one file, called SimConnect.dll.

Then you should hopefully be able to run FSHostClient version 1.3. Let us know how it goes...

Thanks,
Russell

hmmm.. okay see the theory, but do you have any ideas how to allow an update to winsxs to happen?  it only allows access from installers and trying to set the machine to Super Admin still didn't allow access.

Still working on this one...   :)

Hi Graham,

I guess it let me do it because it had already been installed previously. If it's not letting you install it there, the only other way I know of is to run the installer again. I'm pretty sure that version of SimConnect is the original version that came with FSX, so you might just try running the FSX installer again over the top of the version you have.

Well I tried FSHost 3 and that didn't help.  Now I have to load FSX onto my computer.  :-[ You still working on this problem?  I'm now using P3D V2.5.
