When do you think you will be starting on the new FSHost version if you even are going to make a new one?

Sorry, no new versions right now.  Don't really have a date, but I'm sure there will be one some time in the future.

If she eats 30 lbs of chocolate, we may have another problem!  ;-)

DON'T make Russ angry... he could include some nasty tricks on your next beta...

Speaking of which, I'd still like to be able to send equipment failures on occasion...  :o

Sorry to bring this up again but there is a project that I want to build to automatically interact with any new racing features that may be added to the next version of FSHost. If it's going to be a while before you start on a new version then I have a plan for a interim project that will allow the race admins to peform the work each day, themselves (ribbons awarded to winners, post in the news, etc). The thing is, I don't want to do this secondary project just to end up throwing it away if we're only looking at a month or two wait but if it's going to be 3 or more months until a new FSHost then I can get started on my interim project right away. I don't want to rush you into going back to coding before you're ready, I just want to get an idea of the direction I should take while I wait.  :)

Hi  Jon,

No problem, I understand exactly what you mean.

At the moment I don't have any immediate plans for new racing features.  But let me know what you have in mind, and I can tell you more about whether it's an easy thing for me to add, or something that you're better off working on yourself.

I wasn't thinking of anything new to FSHost other than what I've mentioned before. If the races could be automated so each pilot can start the race for his attempt whenever he wants and then his time recorded to a file, then I can write something for my site that will read the flight times and determine the winner then award him a ribbon and make an auto news post. The interim project involves writing a web interface so the current race admins can enter the race winner into a form and have the ribbon and news done that way until FSHost races themselves can be automated.

Ah, ok -- yeah, I remember you suggesting that.  I think it's a great feature, and I've got it on my "magic list", but I think it'll be a while before it's implemented.  So if you want to do your own interim project, that's probably best.  It's possible that it could be added some day, but probably not in the very near future.  I don't have any plans for it at the moment.

Thanks,

Russell
