Is there anyway to insert AI traffic into FSHost?

Russell Gilbert

No, sorry, there's not a way to do that at the moment.  FS shuts off the AI system completely when it enters multiplayer mode, so any AI traffic would have to be added externally somehow.  It's possible to create some kind of add-on program that would inject fake AI planes into the session, but it's not something that's currently available in FSHost.  Maybe some day tho...

Thanks,

Any ideas / hints on how to create an application to create 'fake' ai?  Using FSUIPC, or perhaps creating an application that connect to fshost and appears to be multiple players?

Russell Gilbert

It would have to be the latter:  a program that made multiple connections to FSHost, each one being a fake player representing one AI aircraft.  It would also have to send all the location data to move the planes around, which would be quite tricky, unfortunately.  I've given this some thought, and the best idea I've come up with is to somehow record all the players in a session, and then play back the file and insert all the players into another session later.  You could create the flights manually instead, but calculating all the latitude/longitude points, as well as speed, heading, etc., could be quite difficult.  Not to mention the actual inserting planes into a multiplayer session to begin with.  Sorry I don't have better news :-(

I had an idea of perhaps running a single player game of Flight Sim on the same computer as FSHost, then creating an application which grabs the AI traffic from FSUIPC, and then inserts that into multiple connections to FSHOST.

Then I realised that this will only give traffic for the 80-odd miles around the single player...

Hmm, would be nice to have some AI planes in the air with us, but looks like it just aint gunna happen..

I remember now that that was my exact idea -- grab the AI traffic from a single-player game and insert it into the multiplayer game.  Or record it via FSUIPC, and play it back later.  But yes, it'd only be useful for a particular area.  Also, I ran into quite a few technical problems I couldn't get past when I attempted it about a year ago.

Yup, difficult.

Think that again.....if you have FSX, a group of FSX friends, FSHost and the software im developing (Tower AI Traffic), then that CAN BE POSSIBLE!, checkout my website's forum (www.fsmanuel.com). The only thing is that it just requires a single person to operate it. (generating and controlling the AI in the session).
