VoIP Feature...

It would be nice to add a VoIP feature into FSHost. Like the features in Teamspeak, but without the "holes" in Teamspeak. If FSHost had a way of adding the server-side of VoIP, then build a module into Flight Sim for Download/Install, it would increase the demand of FSHost due to it's already popularity... If you want the help, let me know: raylinder@glacsy.com. (It's a feature in our current development, Codename: X:Net).

I like the idea and agree that if possible this feature should be considered for the next version. Of course more bandwidth would be required and having it aybe as a radio comms thing ie. pilot tunes radio which is the "channel" as such and this could be good for atc sessions and etc.

Paul  ;)

hey paul, not sure if you noticed this, but you posted exactly one year after ray's post. July 16th. cool. and yes, that is a pretty good idea by the way.

That's right... I still thing FSHost still has a lot of potential. Like releasing a "Free" version and a "Professional" version with more features, improvements, and simplicity. Is there still just one person working on the development?

No i didnt notice that. Thanks for pointing out.

Yes, i believe its a one man job still. FSHost is the only software i know that does FS hosting and therefore has a good "monopoly".

Though i must disagree with the fact that you wish to commercialise the product. Thats not the authors job, thats microsoft.

hey WWW394, love your display pic. Firefox eats away the competition. lol. I like the Idea of a VoIP in FSHost, but I think that would cause a bit of a bandwidth problem on some high traffic servers, especially those who rent out ports on their servers. I think you should have a remote machine running a VoIP program that is more flexible and can be integrated with FSHost, even on a remote connection. That's how I used to do it on my old servers with teamspeak. I ran the FSHost, and one of my other staff ran the Teamspeak. I belive the same thing can be done with another VoIP program, integrating it remotely with FSHost. I also disagree with creating a professional edition. If we want better features, give Russell more chocolate (chocolate stimulates the mind!) lol and I'm sure he would appreciate that too!

I like the feature that before you post to an old topic, it says "Warning: this topic has not been posted in for at least 120 days.
Unless you're sure you want to reply, please consider starting a new topic.
".

Just wanted to ask, any progress on this at United ATC? Is your servers still even up, Ray? I used to be on the events staff on your server, and I saw the "inside" and the potential of your X:Net. I really liked it, but where has it gone???

VoipSipSdk

I am now looking for voip solutions. And found information about Voip sdk.
According to their website www.voipsipsdk.com
Voip sdk is based on IETF standards (SIP, STUN, etc.), so it should be compatible with other standard based products such as Asterisk, OpenSER other.

They have all features I need:
# Dynamically loadable codecs
# Registrar support
# Play wav files into conversation
# Record conversation into file
# Hold/Retrieve call
# Forward Call (Blind Call Transfer)
# Transfer Call (Attended Transfer)
# Mute Sound
# VPN support
# Noise reduction
# Auto gain
# Jitter buffer parameters
# Samples on Delphi, C#, VB, VB.NET, C++ 2005, C++ 6.0, HTML (SIP ActiveX)
# Windowless samples on C++ and .NET
# DTMF
# Adaptive silence detection
# Adaptive jitter buffer
# STUN support
# Comes as ActiveX control

But before I will download the evaluation version I would like to hear other people experience.

Ok, I know it's an old post but I just want to add my 2 cents.
I'm on Comcast Cable with a number of computers networked to one cable modem and several people in my house access the Internet at the same time.
One machine (an old clunker) is hosting five FSHost servers, TeamSpeak 2 and Teamspeak 3.
An FSHost server can slow down with more than 20 players but I think that is caused by the traffic between the players and not a server bandwidth problem as the other servers and TeamSpeak are not affected.
Also we are often on the Internet, uploading and downloading files etc at the same time with no problem.
This indicates to me that bandwidth is definately not something to be concerned about if you have a decent connection.
VOIP is an interesting idea for FSHost but we have found that TeamSpeak 3 is a major improvement over Teamspeak 2 so why try to add something that is already available?

    Hope this helps
