I installed fine, tried to connect and got this error:

Error getting server list from master server. The server name or address could not be resolved. 
 
So I went into the options and found the address it was trying to connect to:
 
http://www.chocolatesoftware.com/cgi-bin/fshost_master.cgi
 
I pasted that into my browser and got a very unfriendly list. So I think the link works, I'm just not sure this thing is connecting properly.

Hmm, very strange.

FSHostSpy uses the same Windows functions that Internet Explorer uses, so if you can connect with IE, you should be able to connect with FSHostSpy also.  You said you connected with a browser -- was it IE?  If not, does it work in IE?

Yes, the unfriendly list of numbers is what you should see at that address.  That's the list of servers that FSHostSpy retrieves.

Also, let's check to see if IE is using any proxy settings.  In IE, go to Tools / Internet Options / Connections tab, click the "LAN Settings" button and see if anything is checked there.  Normally all checkboxes are unchecked.  If any are checked, please tell me which ones, and which settings are being used with them.

Well. Last night I was using Firefox to retrieve the list. I have a proxy set on IE for work. Would that make a difference?

Right now I am on the network at work, I pasted the link into IE and got the same list back. I tried with FSHOST and the program hangs on retrieving the list.

So based on what your saying, FSHOST takes connection settings from IE?

I will try later tonight when I am out of the network. Does that sound logical though?

Actually, you said you have a proxy set in IE, so that's probably all I really need to know.  I'm sure that's what's causing the problem.  FSHostSpy probably isn't able to work through the proxy.  I can look into what can be done about that, but in the mean time the solution would be to run it on a connection where a proxy isn't required.

I wonder if anyone else has tried FSHostSpy through a proxy?  (you mentioned FSHost, but I think you mean FSHostSpy?)

Yes, I did mean FSHOSTSPY. I should be out of here and on a non-proxy network around 3:00pm cst. I will check then and see what happens.

As far as the the proxy. Under tools\internet options\connections\lan settings...both proxy buttons are checked. This proxy is really limited in access, however, so I will give it a shot in a few hours.
