Ok.... FS2002 mp works fine. No prob.

When I open fshost 2.6, everything is kosher. Folks can join, etc. FShost AND FSNAV says they're connected and at my location. Now comes the tricky part....

We can hear each other's aircraft, BUT no visual and no vis in FSNAV either. Again, FS mp works fine. Now what IS strange is that I can never see my session registered on Gamespy....FShost SAYS I'm registered, but I'm never listed.

I'm on a dsl, but I am in DMZ (correct IP) running with AND without Zone Alarm Pro the same prob.  HELP!!!!!.....

Usually when you can't see the other aircraft, it's some sort of networking problem with some of the data not making it between the machines.  Usually a router, but it could be other things also.

But the thing I'd like to fix first is the problem of your server not showing up in FSHostSpy.  Maybe if we figure out that one, we'll find the solution to the other one also.

Send me your server name and IP address while it's running, and I'll check the Master Server to see what's happening.  Also let me know which port Remote Access is running on.

Thanks,

Russell

Russell;

  Ok. It's running now.

Server: Zia Air Cargo

IP registered as:  65.19.73.16

Port: 80

When I checked FSHostSpy just now, your server was listed ok.  Did you change something to get it working since your last post?

Also, I just now realized that you said it wasn't showing up in "Gamespy", not "FSHostSpy".  Was that a typo, or were you really looking for it on Gamespy?  If so, you definitely won't find it -- but try downloading FSHostSpy here:

Typo. I did mean FSHostSpy!! When I open it (1.0), I can never find MY session. Only 44 other sessions....I wonder why? I've bypassed my router (DMZ enabled). Still can't figure out why we can't see each other, but can hear each other's a/c!!! If I can't figure this out, it's back to the crapola FS mp engine...*sigh*....I usually use VATSIM anyways, except for training/checkrides for our VA's pilots.

This is an interesting problem. You can't see your own server in FSHostSpy, but the rest of the world can.  I have no problem seeing your server listed, and I'm even able to connect FS2002 to your FSHost.  (nobody else was there, so I couldn't check to see if I could see other players)

I believe this is happening because your FSHostSpy isn't able to talk to your server inside your network.  But for everyone else on the internet, it's fine.

Unfortunately, even port forwarding and/or using the DMZ doesn't always work.  I've spent many hours trying to get two Linksys routers to work, and finally gave up.  Although other users have gotten it to work doing the same things I was trying -- but they were either on a different router, or a different version of the firmware.

Anyway, the problem of FSHostSpy is solved -- it's only a problem for you :-)

But I don't know what to tell you about the fact that people can't see each other.  Does that include when two external people on the net connect to your server?  They can't see each other either, or is it only a problem when you connect internally?
