Hi all,

Just wondering. I am hosting FSHOST on a games server and the server has several ip addresses. I wish to bind FSHost to one of them only. Is there a command line or something else to do so? Is there afeature which does that. Or does FSHost just look in the registry for the first IP address that comes up? I would appreciate if someone could help me.

Thanks,

Hi Paul,

FSHost doesn't actually deal with the networking stuff at that level, it's all handled (for good or bad) by Microsoft's DirectPlay, which is part of their DirectX.  So I'm afraid there's no way to tell FSHost to use a specific IP.  And I'm not aware of a way to tell DirectPlay to do it either.  But from what I've seen, I think DirectPlay just listens for incoming connections on anything that comes into the machine, so I'd think it would handle all IPs that are on the machine.  Unfortunately I don't know of a way to tell DirectPlay to block connections coming in on a particular IP, if that's what you're trying to do.

I believe I've heard of people running it ok on that OS, but I haven't actually tried it myself.

I have a dns and I put that in as my IP instead of an actual ip and that worked for me...
